Delivering different feelings with special remixes – [37X]
A reasonable reinterpretation of the past from a new perspective.
Love Xstereo’s project [37], which spills out 37 unrelated songs like a playlist, has been underway since 2017 on the subscription-type crowdfunding platform Patreon (http://patreon.com/lovexstereo). When it became the 21st song order, the band started with the idea of “Wouldn’t it be fun to remix the songs that have already been released in a completely different way?” and began producing a total of nine remix tracks.
Unusually, these remixes were first presented on live stages of various overseas festivals where Love X Stereo was invited, including Baybeats (Singapore), Reeperbhan Festival (Germany), and Ubud Food Festival (Bali). The audience response to their compact and colorful live sets was hot.
Interestingly, however, the title track of this album is not one of these nine songs. Finnish electronic band “Art Effects” leader and K-pop producer Antti Oikarinen, who happened to listen to Love X Stereo’s 2017 album [37B], has suggested that he should remix the song “Turn It Up,” which captivated the band with bouncy yet sophisticated sound.
Each remix was reinterpreted in a different style. “Deeper Than the Dark (Retro Remix)” and “Hide and Seek (Dance Hall Remix)” became intense with danceable rhythms. “Fly Over (Open Ocean Remix)” is mixed with 90’s techno and chillwave. “All Over Again (Urban Remix)” is a reggae remix of “All Over Again” which had not yet been released when this album came out. If you play this album without thinking, you will be able to enjoy a variety of sound that makes this album hardly feel like one cohesive album.
The artwork and music video were customized in a special collaboration with the 3D avatar app “ZEPETO”. It is essential to watch the music video where you can enjoy the innocent expressions and cute dance moves of the characters that resemble the members.

Love X Stereo combined a number of different textures and moods to create a diverse listening experience in this album. 37X has a gradual progression that allows the listening experience to feel more cohesive. The group’s characteristic synth-pop sound definitely comes to the forefront in this album, making it my choice for a dreamy, interstellar road trip. The album opens with my personal favorite, “Turn It Up (Arts Effects Remix),” which takes a unique twist on the original song by contrasting Annie’s soft vocals with poppy synth sounds and catchy guitar hooks sprinkled throughout the song in tasteful amounts.
The only way to listen to this album is to listen to it as if the whole world has come to an end and you’re the last one remaining. That’s exactly how you’ll feel after the 10 tracks of pure bliss that are about to penetrate deep into your soul and pummel you with excruciatingly satisfying vibes until you’re screaming out your safe word/. But wait, you don’t have a safe word – pick one now. Ready? Now stop everything you are doing, hit the play button and live forever, or well, until you’ve done everything worth doing (and everyone).
